Lesson 3
Habitat & Egg Observation

Main Points:

  • Habitat requirements of salmonids are examined - particularly temperature and oxygen
  • The concept of gases dissolved in water is introduced
  • The spawning behaviour of salmonids is examined
  • How the aquarium is set up to provide a suitable habitat is described
  • Microscope images of trout eggs are examined and measured
  • Students can observe embryonic development in a salamander (time lapse)
